Hailing from Minneapolis, MN - Joey Ryan & The Inks have taken the sunny sound of west coast pop from decades ago & have meshed it with their midwest roots to create a unique sound “like Surfer Girl having ventured to a place where the buffalo roam.” (The Isthmus)that has quickly earned them a reputation as one of the up and coming favorites in the Twin Cities’ music scene.

Over a year in the making, their debut release “Well, Here We Are Then” (Released December, 2009) was recongnized as a top 10 release of 2009 in both of the Twin Cities daily newspapers - Minneapolis Star Tribune & St. Paul Pioneer Press. 11 of the album’s 12 songs have received CMJ airplay (#17 ADD CMJ, #166 Chart CMJ) and the album is in regular rotation with local radio station 89.3 The Current. The album showcases their endearing songwriting and apt arrangements that “pair melancholic ache with exceedingly sunny melodies” (Metromix, TC).

In their performing career, Joey Ryan & The Inks have shared the stage with local and national artists alike throughout the midwest in venues large and small and have been recognized in the Twin Cities as a finalist for ‘Best New Band’ in March of 2010 (Vita.MN) and a semi-finalist in the ‘Best Twin Cities Band Showdown’ in July 2010 (TC Metromix). Clearly a band on the rise, the quintet is back in the studio already working on their next effort expected to be ready for release sometime this spring.
